Soul Story is a mobile application that allows individuals to create Digital Memorials(Named Memory Point in the app) linked to specific geo-locations by using AR and AI technology.

It allows people to connect physical location with a digital space, to provide comfort in times of grief and to extend the memories shared with their friends and families.

Background

Emily had lost her sister during the COVID-pandemic. Her sister was living in another country, while Emily was in another country. When her sister was in critical condition, they couldn’t meet nor share conversation in her last moments. The only thing she could do was pay for her respect and await for her ashes.

Pain Points

  • Find a way to remember her and pay tribute to her.
  • Record images, videos and audio for herself, family and relatives. Have a memory collection that can be shared.

Needs

  • Wants assurance that the platform will be accessible to her family and relatives for years to come.
  • Want it to be easy to use, familiar and straight forward.
The identity of the person is changed to respect the privacy of the interviewed user.
We understood that grief affects individuals of all races, creeds, and socioeconomic statuses, so we decided to lean more toward smartphones, which are cheaper, familiar, accessible, and inclusive.

Soul Story uses NN/g’s Four Dimensions of Tone of Voice framework to define its tone. It embraces a casual, approachable tone, blending sincerity and warmth with a relatable touch. The communication is always respectful and empathetic, infused with enthusiasm to inspire users and create a meaningful, uplifting experience.

Conclusion

Understanding how to address a person's ethical and emotional needs from cultural, socioeconomic, and cognitive perspectives is crucial when dealing with a topic this sensitive was the biggest takeaway for me in this project.
